OpenShift 4.14 moves into EUS Term 3 on October 31

The narrower support phase may require an additional subscription, and Red Hat is giving 4.14 operators one month to prepare.

OpenShift support window shifts from Term 2 to Term 3.
Side by side: what changed

Red Hat says OpenShift Container Platform 4.14 will move from Extended Update Support Term 2 into Term 3 on October 31, 2026. The one-month notice changes the support envelope for clusters that remain on the 4.14 line.

What changed

During EUS Term 2, Red Hat says qualified Critical and Important security patches and selected mission-critical bug fixes were available. In Term 3, updates may be available for Critical and Important security advisories and Urgent-priority bugs.

The distinction is operational rather than cosmetic: Red Hat tells customers to check whether they need an additional subscription to consume updates in the next phase.

Who it affects

The notice applies to OpenShift 4.14 installations across x86_64, Arm, IBM Power, and IBM Z/LinuxONE variants. Teams that intentionally remained on 4.14 for its extended-support window should review whether their current entitlement covers Term 3.

What to do

Inventory clusters still on 4.14, apply relevant previously released errata, and confirm subscription coverage before October 31. Teams planning to leave 4.14 should use Red Hat’s supported update procedure rather than treating the lifecycle transition as an ordinary patch deadline.
